This spring 2016 the lab is excited to welcome new volunteer Rachel Yonemura to our lab. Rachel is an undergraduate at UW studying both environmental science and biology. Rachel grew up in Woodland, WA but calls Portland home. Her fascination with the sense of scale and new dimension that biology offers environmental science motivates her to major in those two disciplines. Rachel says that as she continues to learn and grow as a student she realizes how important the ecology of water is, not only for our health, but for terrestrial ecosystems as a whole. Running, hiking, traveling and martial arts are big parts of her life. When she's not studying, working, or catching a few hours of sleep she is usually outside on an adventure. Rachel will be helping developing procedures and strategies for maintaining and deploying field equipment for biogeochemical monitoring in aquatic systems.
